Zoning and other land use regulations have long influenced the visibility, preservation, and erasure of queer urban spaces. Drawing from decades of scholarship and lived experience, Dr. Petra Doan will explore how planning tools—such as zoning codes, nuisance regulations, noise ordinances, bar licensing policies, and family definitions—shape LGBTQ+ spaces in both enabling and restrictive ways.
